SID - The Blast From The Past Having Kate back in his ife after 20 yrs has brought something out in Sonny we'd never seen because it's more about character than plot. And that sparkle you see in Sonny's eyes? Well that's Benard's own joy emerging thru his char. "I've been having a lot of fun because it's interesting playing history," says the actor, who's suprised by his claim. "I didn't know that playing history could be interesting. But we get to reminisce & talk about things that we did when we were young. It adds a certain dimension to the char., as an actor, I get to visualize. And so does the aud. viewers are getting to know the Sonny who existed before he became a don.
What Benard knows for sure is that if Kate had come into Sonny's life w/out her formerly being CF, a love connection would have never happened. "It would have been too much work," Benard laughs. "But you're starting to see who she really is, who he fell in love with. She's been shedding the skin enough for him to keep hanging in there. I think if sh hadn't shed her skin enough, then Sonny would be, 'You know what, Kate Howard? C'est La Vie'"
Every time they get close, though, one of them puts on the brakes. It's like he wants a new love one min. and doesn't the next. "He doesn't necess. want a rel. because he doesn't want to go thru all of that again.... but he also doesn't want to be alone. "He has to find that happy med. But eventually, if she keeps revealing herself the way she has been, he won't be able to resist going to the next level with her."
Some Like It Wet:
It's obvious by now Sam gets amourous when wet. Sam had her first tryst w/ Lucky in a hot tub. "You're the one, you make bath time losts of fun, " a teasing Monaco sings to GV, as he walks by. As uncomfortable as it could have been, because they are such goood friends off camera, it wasn't. In fact, the twosome joked the whole time. "I was propped up on the side of the hot tub with my legs around him," she recalls. "It could have been....weird. I don't want to sit on his lap in a bathing suit, nor does he want me that close either. So I was literally holding myself up. The director came over the intercom and went, 'Now this is only going to take a minute.' I'm ike 'Oh man, I feel like I'm at the gynecologist!' My gyno has that same really soothing voice, and in this position....."
